Yuch. I've been on the go since half past four this morning. That's over 18 hours ago Frown I've been to Bristol to the JISC e-pedagogy experts meeting. It was an interesting trip. Well, no, actually it was an interesting trip. I flew there and back in the day, but I realised I've never travelled from the airport into Bristol. I've been to the airport in a taxi, and in the car from Bath, but have always otherwise arrived in Bristol via Temple Meads, never like I did today from the airport on the bus. And how very interesting it was too. I didn't realise that's quite where the bridge was, or how high up it is, or how attractive it is. I know there are loads of churches in Bristol, from walking round before and from looking for a church for Jonty when he moved. And I know there's quite a hill or three, I've walked up them plenty. But I didn't realise quite how many towers and spires you can see arriving down the hill to Bedminster. Or how 3D those hills make Bristol centre. I rather liked the not-quite-like-but-you-get-my-drift curve of a frontage (or possibly more likely a backage) of buildings you can see like Bath's Crescent, from the bridge sweeping back towards the city. Or the row of buildings just lower and to the left of those which are all different colours like the front street in Tobemory. Or, what is that pile over on the other side of the valley? Ah, I believe this is why someone invented google maps. Pause. Aha. I suspect Ashton Court Estate. Well that's cleared that up then Cool Ooh, and whaddya know, someone took a similar photograph to the mental pic I took. And it's called the Royal York Crescent. Ha. Maybe it does look like Bath then! And here's a better one, which has the coloured houses brighter too. Although those weren't the ones I was looking at. Noo, these are the ones I was looking at. Fantastic. Isn't the web a wonderful thing? What did you see today you don't normally see for looking?
Notice little out-standing about event. Lovely to see Sue and Spencer for first time in a while. Slightly worried about bashing Soton's Bb got (Matt & Sam take note). Otherwise, nuff said. Equally, can't even begin to rant about the appalling queues at checkins/security... Night night.
