Now, personally, I don't currently
iTune. Don't ask me why. Ok, ask me why. I installed it when I first got my mp3 player and I was trying to learn how to rip cds, and couldn't. After Real, and then Windows Media Player, it was the latter that I found easiest to use. At some point I've uninstalled everything else, so no iTunes. Obviously I'm interested in the
iTunesU initiative, so eventually I'll get back to it I suppose. Anyway, one of the other things regular visitors will
know I did when I got my mp3 player was to install
TextAloud, with the intention of recording articles to listen to in the car driving to work. I haven't done it as often as I thought I might, despite the
voice I bought not being too bad at all. I sometimes listen to podcasts instead. Now, really, isn't there a job going here? Having found
Lanny Arvan's blog via
Greg's comments from the
Blackboard blog, I saw a really
interesting post about students' engagement with their courses. However, it was ten minutes before the footy kicked off, so I dropped it all onto text aloud and I've just been listening to it while getting comfortable to watch liverpool stomp west ham. (given that the content of
Lanny's post about the Bblog included stuff about copyright, I probably shouldnt be doing
this but still, I hope he won't mind). And TextAloud is ok, I got enough of the post as I wanted but I still feel there's a missed opportunity for someone with time on their hands to read (record) text posts from popular blogs so that people who want to hear them as podcasts can do instead of reading. If you could subscribe to a service where you could do this, would you? I think I might....
(score is currently 1-2, if you're at all interested, with an additional liverpool one harshly ruled offside

)
